I've been living among these statues for months now, camping out on the beach here. I sleep among them. And I have to say, it's a bit eerie. For one thing–and my assistants can vouch for this--after just one week, you start to be aware of like a very low hum. I think it's coming from the steles.
We've all been dreaming about them, too. And in our dreams the tunes hummed by the Pedeasters become more complicated. It's sort of profound. I'm not musical. Nor religious. But I think we should get some of those kinds of people out here to experience this. Before we all go a little crazy. I mean I can hardly remember the tunes when I wake up. It just sort of nags at me a little all day long. I start humming a tune, and I don't know where it's going, so I sort of stop and listen, and there's nothing. Next thing I know, I've been staring out into space for I don't know how long.
It's happening to the others, as well.
It's unnerving. I'm a very organized person. I'm not used to just drifting off on a half-remembered tune like that.
