Area Residents Can Learn About Housing, Grant Writing and Health Insurance
New York, NY-The Williamsburg Art and Historical Center (WAH), in conjunction with MetroPlus Health Plan, is sponsoring a Resource Day for artists, their families and residents from the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area. The program is designed to help the many local artists learn about government-sponsored housing and grant programs as well as government-sponsored free or low-cost health insurance for adults and children.
A free seminar on "Housing for Artists" will be offered by The New York City Housing and Preservation Development (HPD) and will include information on obtaining a mortgage, property lists and renovation options. The WAH Center will provide information on effective grant writing for artists and art organizations. MetroPlus representatives will describe government-sponsored health programs including Family Health Plus, free health insurance for adults, and Child Health Plus, free or low-cost health insurance for children. In addition, there will be free health screenings, refreshments and a gift for attendees.
