We’re excited to invite you to a special performance of Daniel Hass’ new composition, Sonata Dialogues, on Friday, March 7th at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:00pm).

Han Chen is a fearless pianist acclaimed for his mastery of both contemporary and classical repertoire. The New Yorker’s Alex Ross selected his Naxos recording of Ligeti’s Études as a “Notable Classical Recording of 2023,” and Gramophone praised him as “impressively commanding and authoritative.” A Gold Medalist at the 2013 China International Piano Competition, Chen has appeared with major orchestras including the Calgary Philharmonic and Hong Kong Philharmonic. His four solo Naxos CDs showcase his versatility, from Liszt to Ligeti. Chen studied at Juilliard, New England Conservatory, and CUNY Graduate Center, and is represented by Black Tea Music.
Daniel Hass is an award-winning Canadian cellist and composer who bridges classical and contemporary music through diverse performances across North America and Europe. A founding member of the Renaissance String Quartet and modern jazz ensemble Orlando Furioso (2023 German Jazz Awards’ Debut Album winner), Hass has received commissions from the New York State Council on the Arts, Glenn Gould Foundation, and Canada Council for the Arts. His debut composer album “Love and Levity” is forthcoming on Sono Luminus. A Juilliard graduate and active session musician for artists like Maya Hawke and Caroline Rose, Hass performs on a 1730 Franciscus Celoniatus cello on loan from the Canada Council.

ABOUT THE WAH CENTER
In late October 1996, Yuko Nii founded the non-profit The WAH Center (Williamsburg Art & Historical Center) based upon her Bridge Concept. That concept envisions a multifaceted, multicultural art center whose mission is to coalesce the diverse artistic community, and create a bridge between local, national and international artists, emerging and established artists, and artists of all disciplines. Thus through the international language of art we come to understand each other to create a more peaceful and integrated world. The WAH Center is a force for peace and understanding and its concept is incorporated in its acronym: “WAH” in Japanese means “peace” or “harmony” or “unity”.
