Dear Friends!
We are going to have a special event, the play called “Rapunzel & Sisyphus Freed” organized by our theater directors, Peter Dizozza and Roman D’Ambrosio before the Detritus show ends on Sat. Dec. 7 at 5:00pm.
I am very interested in seeing how the German children’s fairy tale, “Rapunzel” and the Greek Myth, “Sisyphus” are performed in the gallery where your artworks in the Detritus show still remain. Our creative theater directors will show us their theatrical talents to bring the musical play performed by 2 actors!! You cannot miss this rare theatrical experience!
In addition to the play, we are going to have the Artists’ Talk from 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Thanks to your participation in the Detritus show, the exhibition was a great success! While I was sitting at the gallery alone, I observed the viewers in silence for a while. Interestingly enough, they all showed similar inquisitive expressions on their faces, not knowing what the show was all about. So. I often tell them to go to read the poster on which describes the concept of the show is written. Then they understood what the show was about, and they would go back to enjoy viewing the works again. And I often guided them around to explain about each piece. They were very impressed with the amazing works made from trash. It was an inspirational and learning experience for not only adults but also young children. Seeing artwork is not the same as engaging with artworks!

Questions for artists:
1)I was raised by my frugal parents who were environmentally and economically concerned citizens. Were you also brought up by your parents who taught you how to conserve material, energy and money at your young age? Have they given you the reason why?
2) What have you learned from the experiences we had from the long lasting Lockdown period? Have you become a more environmentally concerned person? In what way have you changed?
3) Have you become more aware of the endangered life on earth without clean water, over flooding, burning forests, etc, because of the climate change?
4) Was it your first experience to create works from useless materials or the materials found in trash cans?
5) Did you have a preconceived idea of what kind of work you wanted to create for the Detritus’ show?
6) Did you find the trash materials first and start thinking of what to make and how to utilize the materials to make your work?
7) How different was it between creating works from scraps and create a new work from the materials bought from stores?
8) Would you like to continue to work on Detritus work?
