“Man’s best friend” has always been the phrase that captures the outpouring of care and affection that we feel and display towards our furry little comrade, the dog. If you have a special affinity for “man’s best friend,” and you’re an artist, wouldn’t you jump at the chance to exhibit your work? When you hear who else is showing their “Dog” works besides your own “dog” work, it will get your tail wagging!

2-D works: in our small gallery we will exhibit selected works from this “Open Call,” including paintings, drawings, watercolors, prints, and photography along with some pieces by our “Special Guest Artists” namely, the internationally known photographer, William Wegman and the internationally known painterEric Ginsburg.

3-D works: in our main gallery we will present another unique show “The Dog’s Notes,” by a Taiwanese sculptor, Poren Huang. His work has been exhibited throughout Asia: Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, etc. The work displays a deep affinity for our furry friends. Huang’s large sculptural dog forms bring an imaginative and illustrative vision of animated dogs that seem to have jumped right off the page of a graphic novel or anime series, into 3-dimensional reality.

The staff at the WAH Center would like to see these sculptures accompanied by other salutes to “man’s best friend.” The open call, then, is for complimentary artworks that take dogs as their direct subject matter and inspiration. All qualifying pieces that show that passionate bark for the dog, will be shown alongside these other outstanding artist’s works. This will be a show that focuses deeply on the best aspects attributed to our furry friends: their loyalty, beauty and exceptional ability to bring us comfort and companionship when we need it the most. All dog lovers are welcome to submit their work to the WAH Center, as soon as possible, to be considered for the show.
