To our Valued Artists, Friends, and Community Members,
Following the significant water damage that occurred this past July,
the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center (WAH Center) remains closed until further notice.
The damage was caused by a significant water flood originating from a toilet on the top, upper level, which resulted in extensive damage to three rooms below. Given that our center is housed in a cherished historical building, the restoration process is time consuming and particularly complex. We are currently in the ongoing maintenance to ensure that the architectural integrity of our home is preserved while meeting modern safety standards.
Due to the continued closure and active construction: All Art Exhibition Programs and postponed until further notice. All Theater and Music Performance Programs are postponed or relocated where possible.
The closure has provided a rare opportunity to focus on essential, long-overdue improvements. Our team is currently reorganizing our extensive antique and contemporary art collections, finalizing and printing previous catalogues to document our recent shows, and raising funds to modernize our facilities, including installation of an elevator system to ensure our historic venue is more accessible to all members.
We understand the disappointment these postponements may cause and deeply appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to bring the WAH Center back to its full capacity. We will provide updates on our reopening timeline as soon as they become available.
Restoring a historical landmark and installing modern infrastructure like an elevator is a monumental and costly undertaking. As we work tirelessly to bring our programming back to life, we would be deeply grateful for your financial support.
